Hi monica & Family, and any other readers. Have just returned from Tetbury, apart from Family not one familiar face. Where are they all ? Did not have time to visit St. Saviours and check on recent additions. If not there must all be wrapped up safe and well in some Old Folks Home. Traffic horrendous, I only hope that the new traffic enforcers get their act together. Saw no evidence of them. A pity they have no payment by achievment. An enquiry on behalf of myself. Has anyone any record or knowledge of when the old Tetbury Town stopped playing at a pitch in London Road. I can re-call being taken there by my Father as a child. I am sure that it was about half way between Northfield Road and the Pike, and to rear of the Army Supply Depot known as "The Dump " I also remember a pond in the field and a story of a Referee being thrown into it. A story, or true ? I would love to know. If any one would like to make contact apart from this forum, please post a message here and I will come back to you using my E-mail address. Sorry unable to help you Monica. With my limited knowledge I can only guess you must now be a member. My problem was the fact that I was putting in my pass word in low case when it shopuld have been high Case. Keep in touch, glad to see this Forum is starting to be used. Cliff B.

G'Day to everyone Down Under. How Bist to all of the Tetbury readers. I know wer' that ther' blackbird be !, dus't thee ?. Thanks for coming back Monica, I also followed Tetbury Town until I left home. Some more names to those you mentioned:- Len LAW, Wickey MOULDER. The DAVENPORTS were Harry, who was the Goalkeeper until he broke a leg, and John. When Colin DYER kept the Drum, ( Prince of Wales , for the the young folk out there), he had a pre-war photograph of the team on the wall of the bar. His Father Charlie, and Bill CLEAVER ( Trainer ) were on it as well as at least one GROVES. I wonder if any one out there still has a copy?. John. Did not have chance to visit big brother Jim. Since I was last in Town he has moved from St. Mary's Road. Did you go to School with my Brother, Walter "Titch" BRYAN ? If so I should think he would know of the where abouts of your old teacher. Is Mike still around ? Once the Drum shut there is no where to meet up and go back in time. Used to meet up with Trevor MARSH and Ticker NEWMAN AN whenever I made a flying visit. Other Readers. Is there anything you would like to hear what Tetbury was like from the mid 30's to early 50's?. Get in touch please. Cliff B.

Oh for goodness sake. This may be an underused forum, but it's not a message board for expats that still have romantic memories of 'old' Tetbury. Get your own blogs going (on your own site) and move on with your lives!

To Mr Tetbury,I am sorry we ex-pats have intruded on your space, it shows how seriously underused the forum was.when letters by TWO!! ex-pats can cause you so much concern. My reply to an ex T.G.S.(TETBURY Grammar school) student brought other ex. students on to the site. I am sorry that a 75yr old lady who belonged to a large Tetbury family has upset you, so in view of the tone of your letter I am considering not using the site anymore to save you further anguish.

Monica (and others); don't be put off by a tiny-minded minority! You were posting under a section of this message board which gives the instruction "You can talk about anything here". I expect our webmaster's definition of 'anything' is.......er.......anything!
The fact that your contribution was generally relevant to Tetbury is particularly ironic - most commonly-used message boards divert far away from what is supposed to be the central topic. Crisps is always a good subject, or favourite biscuits (Me: smokey bacon flavour and fig rolls, before you ask)
From my experience, one of the most popular areas of any community forum is for "expats that still have romantic memories" of where they used to live. It's a great way for a community past and present to share and compare. Absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia, despite what others might say!
I expect 'Mr Tetbury Still' is feeling left out because he hasn't anything to contribute to your discussion. It's a common feature of most message boards - idiot with nothing to contribute and nothing better to do decides to have a go at someone who is contributing because he can't relate to the topic being discussed. Typical profile: aged 25, lives with parents, no friends, no social skills, never leaves his PC, body odour problems, probably contributes similarly pathetic comments to lots of other messages boards.
We should feel symparthy for him I suppose.
I'm sure you'll reply Mr TS - why not tell us what you feel this forum IS for (seeing as you seem to be the one setting the rules now). Tell us what sort of topics you would like to see on here, and then start a few discussions of your own. We'll all happily join in I'm sure!

Oh how dull. By the way, 'Mr Normanpants' (what a sad name) don't get a job as a profiler for the police.

Hmm, no new discussions then. That's a missed opportunity. If you can't contribute yourself, don't criticise the contributions of others.
You owe Monica an apology.
