hehe
many thanks Merlin!
in all fairness - cake isn't my forte however I'm sure someone can rustle up some cakey goodness :-)
just another quick question - does anyone have any images of Tetbury at Christmas last year? I need to start putting together the brochure for this year, and it's always easier to have images donated. I will of course credit the photographer in the brochure, but I didn't take any pics last year...
thanks in advance

Hello Tetbury's few but faithful,
I'm looking to your combined knowledge of the town to, in all fairness, save me some work..
I'm about to start contacting shops, pubs, restaurants, hotels, b&bs etc. regarding the Christmas Market, and more importantly advertising and promoting it.
Does anyone have a list of the above off the top of their heads - it will give me a starting place to being contacting the town. I could of course walk round door to door - but figured this might give me a bit of a kick start.
Answers on a postcard - and grately apreciated. I shall shout you all a coffee and a cake next time we're in town! (May 11th) :-)

so- I move fairly quickly I'm now looking for hotels and/or B&Bs to advertise with the Christmas Market. The ad I've taken out so far on christmasmarkets.com is fairly small (at the moment). To realise how large it could be - last year the market in Cirencester had 11,000 hits on the Christmas Market website..... and yeah, some of that will have been spam BUT just think of all of those people who saw Cirencester as the ONLY Cotswold town worth viisting last Christmas! www.christmasmarkets.com/UK/tetbury-christmas-market.htmlThe Tetbury Christmas Market website will be launched this coming week - and will be needing hotels, b&bs, shops, and a whole host of other items to make it appealing to holiday makers and overseas tourists. Cheers Dax

thanks Merlin,
any ideas on where to contact about using the pedestrian street for market stalls? My requests to Steven Hurst have aparently fallen upon deaf ears as no response has been made (I first requested this in December LAST year!)
I'm eager to expand the market on Wednesdays and Saturdays as most of my vendors book with me through Tetbury first - and I have to admit sometimes they leave a little disappointed. Stroud and Malborough markets are fabulous.
I wonder how Tetbury would cope with a real Farmers Market? I'm happy to organise one, and was granted permission by the Feoffees to run a market on a Monday too (although this was last year) Perhaps I could re-instate the request and speak to the Cotswold Farmers Market Association?

Hi merlin,
I've added threads to the events section, and will be lobbying for inspiration and action.
I have to admit my interest in tetbury is more of a business interest given that I live in Wiltshire, BUT I have made Tetbury my main place of business and would love to integrate fully into the town.
Christmas Market being one of them!
Also - trying to get ANYONE to turn the proper market into a "proper" market..... ahhh, where to start? The council whom I've contacted many times seem to forget the conversation the second I leave! However - given that I've booked myself up until at least December 2013 - I'd better keep shouting!

We've organised some trade events to take place in the Market Place in Tetbury.
We recently ran a bead and jewellery fair in St Margarets in Bradford on Avon, and it was a huge success - trade buyers travelling from far and wide to sample the wares!
As a regular user of the market place - I've booked 3 weekends this year to host our trade events
July 10th - Sunday (looking to hear from pubs who would like to join in advertising for Sunday lunches
October 15th and 16th (all weekend) - pubs and hotels fancy getting involved for a bit of co-advertising? The adverts are going out nationally - we've had enquries from as far north as Scotland and right down in Essex!
November 26th and 27th (all weekend) - again, looking for some local support of places we could advertise our stall holders and buyers to stay and eat!
Give me a shout

Hello everyone. South West Fairs are running a Christmas Market in the centre of Tetbury this year - hopefully the start of a new "feature" on the Tetbury calendar. Opening Monday 5th December to Saturday 10th December, we're looking at putting Tetbury on the Christmas Map! I'm looking for stallholders, local groups, clubs, organisations etc. that would like to be part of the Christmas Market. We've already had bookings and a coach company asking about hotels - so definately one to get behind. Give me a shout for more info! www.southwestfairs.co.ukId love the Christmas Market website to be a permenant website for Tetbury too - so looking to hear from the webmaster? Cheers Dax

Hello again Tetbury,
I'm not from here (hailing as I do from the North East) but come to Tetbury on a weekly basis.
I've heard about Woolsack - would like to get involved - but no nothing about it.
What is the history? I gather it's not actually a tradition but a new thing? How's it going, who organising it etc.
Really interested in Tetbury and would love to take part
Thanks
Dax

Hello Tetbury, Come along to the Market House in Tetbury every Wednesday. A wonderful mix of stalls - gifts, crafts, cosmetics, perfect for the tourist visitor, and a regular fixture for the fair folk of Tetbury. Loads of items simply not available on the High Street, and all a quality in keeping with Tetbury. Call Daxia on 01249 760 548 or visit www.southwestfairs.co.ukIt would be nice to see the regular folk of Tetbury shopping in the centre of town as well as the tourists :-) Thanks Dax

When does it light up like nobodies business? When there's something to offer, like on Woolsack day. Events are what brings people to the town. People want to see 'ye olde england' in action, to see the local colour they hope still exists. Not too hard to set up - with appropriate council help and funding, and always efective. H I'm mid organising a Christmas Market. I'm literally just now contacting the local council, chamber of commerce, local businesses, schools etc. to set up meetings (which generally I find less useful, but as I'm new to Tetbury don't wan't to offend or tread on toes) My "vision" is a wonderful community event, aimed at providing a talking point, a visiting attraction, an influx of tourists and business into the town - as well generally celebrating Christmas and all it's twinkly wonder. Would be very happy to incorporate historical aspects and local groups - just drop me a line Dax

This is indeed a dead board... Give me some flyers (drop them into the market house on Wednesdays (every wed from 27th April to Christmas) and I'll distribute them. I'll also make sure I make all of my Tetbury relevant postings on here and link it to the www.southwestfairs.co.uk website Dax

Good morning Tetbury, we run a weekly (although not this coming Wednesday due to the Guild of Craftsmen using the hall) Gift and Craft Market in the wonderful Market House, right in the centre of town. We're now in our second year, and would like to encourage local artisans, crafters, business people, schools, charities, local groups etc. to come along and take a stall - and start using the market place. Currently shadowed by the Stroud markets, we'd like to see Market House bustling by the end of the summer - with amazing stalls both uptairs and down - making it a talked about market for all the right reasons! South West Fairs run gift and craft markets right across the South West (cunning name that!) and we've invested our time mainly in Tetbury - as it's such a fabulous town! Call us for more information - visit us (Wednesdays and the second Saturday of each month), visit our website www.southwestfairs.co.uk We want the market in Tetbury - the downstairs as well as our craft market upstairs to be renowned for quality and choice... and we want to make it the hub for local information - we stock brochures from different Tetburian groups, leaflets from local organisations and we'd like to hear from as many people as possible. Lovin the website btw - keep it going! Dax Attachments:
