I am tracing my family tree. My Grandad Ernie Goodfield was a farm labourer in Beverston and was born in Long Newton. Does anybody remember the Goodfield family? His father before him was also a farm labourer in the area and my grandfather's granddad was a farm labourer in Tresham, Hawkesbury. It would be helpful if i could have the information to access church records of Long Newton Church as he had a brother who was buried here aged 5 mths but he has not got a marker on his grave so it is impossible for me to know exactly where it is. Also does anybody know of a small church in Tetbury called "Ashley"? My granddad's grandparents were married here but i have to apply to the church to find the marriage entry and have not been able to locate it.

Hi, Just a thought could you be looking for St James church in Ashley village ? this was part of Wiltshire until the 1930's, as the map shows it's very close to Tetbury so I would suspect it is the church. Also worth checking this website on the off chance another person is also researching in the area. www.rootsweb.com/~engcots/Rodmarton.htmlGood luck.
