What do you think of this? It's Sir William Romney's School's new logo. Gone are the dolphins representing Tetbury, and in is a relatively simple new design. Let us know your thoughts.

Looks okay to me! My my, what an enormous W. Is it supposed to be symbolic or representative of anything in particular? In other words, is there logic behind it, or was it just chosen as it looks okay?

I think it was partly to do with losing "Tetbury" from the school's name.

This is a terrible idea, I looks like an investment banking firm. Keep the dolphins, keep the crest. That school is going to down the toilet but dont lose the emblem

Just looking at the hard-to-find SWRS website and the logo actually looks quite a lot worse for some reason. www.sirwilliamromneys.gloucs.sch.uk/. Looks like some 11 year old won a drawing competition. I take back what I said previously about it looking okay. Anyway, without wanting to digress, I was interested in the school motto as presented on the website home page, Praestant - Aeterna - Cauducis. Where did that suddenly come from? I was at the school for seven long years back in the last millennium and I never knew nothing about no motto. Can anyone tell me what it means? ( I never done Latin, only metalwork)

I've found that 'praestant' means excellent or superiority and 'aeterna' means eternal, but cauducis has drawn a complete blank with Google, which is a bit worrying. I'm guessing, but I wonder if it has anything to do with cheese.
'Eternal superior cheese' sounds like a good motto to me, and I like cheese so I would be very much in favour of it.

I think Cheese is Superior smacks off some sort of a blantant indoctrination by the Dairy Commission to get kids to eat something that isnt salt or burger flavoured
WELL I SAY DOWN WITH JAMIE OLIVER AND HIS VEGETABLE TYRANNY AND LET US EAT CAKE

Am I to understand that SWR has a really bad reputation locally? Is is a 'sink' school? You want topics to discuss so discuss this with me!
I am thinking of moving to the area and would like to know.
