We're moving to Tetbury over the summer and we're really excited about it. We have 2 small children (5 and 2) and it's really important, particularly for my 5 year old daughter, that we find the right school. We've read the comments already posted about St Mary's Primary School but we would really appreciate any further information about the school. Any comments on the nursery would also be great. many thanks

Heya, I attented St Marys Primary school about 5 to 6 years ago. It is a good, friendly school. the only problem i have with it is that the classes are very big, usually around 30 in each class, this means that the children do not get one to one learning and the quiter children (tht was me) are left out as the don't tend to raise their hand and ask for help. I would try looking at the Ofsted reports online to see what they are like. the school looks nice and clean and it is bright and colourful and looks a nice well looked after school. But if i were you i would look at surroundinf areas and their schools for example Rodmarton school, that is a nice small school and the children get more one to one learning.there are also some more smaller schools in the area thar would be worth checking out. Hope i have helped you. Past student at St Marys Primary School x P.S can't help you much on the nursery side of things, but i used to attend St Marys Nursery which is in the chipping, can't remember much about it, but i don't have any bad memorys about it so that must be a good thing.

St.Mary's is a warm friendly school with approachable staff and good facilities. Both my children went there and they had a lovely, happy time . The classes are not too large and I know from friends that the Reception classes have only 18 children in at the present.I have always found them ready to listen and my children did really well there. They welcome people visiting to have a look round the school so why don't you go and visit?

I am 10. I have gone to 3 schools Leighterton Primary, Querns Westionbirt and now I am at Beaudesert Park. Beaudesert I have enjoyed most, but I would also recomend Leighterton as it is near Tetbury, has not too big, not too small classes and everyone is very friendly. I am sorry, I dont know much about St. Marys!

I am a recent student of St Marys. I also have a younger sibling there. If i were you i would definitely send your child there. It has friendly staff (yes most schools do) but at St Marys they also know how to handle the class. They also listen to parents and students and try to take on what they are saying. Also i wouldn't listen to Just Browsing, the school has many people come in and do one-to-ones with students that the school think would benefit from.
If i am honest i wouldn't send your child to Leighterton due to the fact that most of the classes have two year groups in one classroom and the years are very small. Which doesn't give children to make many friends.
I am glad i have given you some information. If i were you i would check out the schools.
Hope it Helps you Trudie

St Marys is ok if you don't mind a large school. The staff are good and caring. KS1 is excellent BUT I do have my reservations about KS2. The classes are too big and they also mix year groups and I feel that does not work. There are a number of good state and independent schools in the area and I suggest you visit them ALL.

St Mary's Primary school is wonderful, all 3 of my children went there, as did myself my brother and sister. The staff are very caring and easy to get along with. The classes sizes are quite large.
But on the whole i had 3 very happy children there

I have never recovered from being served tapioca at St Marys in 1972, and still regularly have nightmares about it. I can picture the fearsome cook from that era, but can't remember her name. Can anyone help, to make my nightmares a little more realistic?
