Another thought while I'm here: I recently dug up an old dog collar tag with the name 'Rex' on one side and 'Wing, 17 Church Street' on the other. I know George, who owns Artique at that address, but he doesn't know of anyone called Wing who ever lived there. I've looked through a few directories and the like, but I can't find a Wing family name. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I guess the obvious question might be how far back you are looking ?
There's a Malcolm Wing shows up on the 2010 Electoral Roll.
and a John and Leland Wing 2002 same source.

Sorry, yes,that would help wouldn't it?  From the condition of the tag, at least 30 years ago. Although it's not always an indication of age, the tag was about 12 inches down in the soil. H |

Mr Wing was manager of the International Stores which is now Artique. He was certainly there in the 1950's but I don't know how long he had been there before that date. I believe he lived above the shop.
