Please can anyone tell me anything about my husbands Great Grandfather, Fielder Raymond Poole 1864-1952 or his wife Margaret Poole 1854-1934. Just before his death at the age of 87 he was living at 22 Silver Street, in fact he had lived there for at least the last 20 years of his life. Does anyone remember him? or have any photos, or know anyone who may be related to him.
Any information would be most welcome.

Fielder POOLE. As a child living in West Street, Tetbury from 1933 to 1949, knew Fielder POOLE by sight. He owned a field below Bath Bridge and " our gang " often used it as a playground, never abusing or causing any damage. Stream running through the field eventually runs into the Wiltshire Avon. in the spring and Summer we studied Great Crested Newts, now protected. In the field was a pond that we slid on, walked on played on, whatever, when frozen. Mr POOLE always broke the ice, a good thing on reflection, no one ever got drowned. At some stage when dried out pond was dug out to reveal that it was square and stone lined and resembled an upside down pyramis. About a year ago re-newing child hood, over looked the field, to my dismay fond has now been filled in and made into a grass bank. A shame as I would have thought it would have been of some historical/agricultural interest. I also remember an old white horse living in the field for many years, and being there when it was put down. The arches of Bath Bridge was another play ground especially when raining. Hope above is of some interest, you never know it may bring a response from one of the many readers, who never make an entry. Cliff B.
