I have recently acquired a glazed flagon, from the late 19th Century, made by William Powell of Bristol. It is stamped with the legend "B,1751 William Warn Spirit Merchants, Tetbury".
I know that William Warn ran a malt-house, brewery and Spirit Merchants in Tetbury from the mid 19th into the early 20th Centuries. His buildings were located somewhere in Church Street.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible first of all to date the flagon from the "B,1751" marking or, if not, what that marking means. I would also like to know where the Warn brewery was located. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks.

William Warn born 1835 died 1909. Buried at St Mary's Tetbury, son of John Warn (Victualler) born 1786 died 1838 see the Warn family tomb in St Mary's church yard. The former Warn's Barton brewery was demolished in 1965/66 it was located in the area at the top of Church Street which is now a car park also part occupied by the Tourist Information centre in Old Brewery Lane. The building's known as "Warn's Court" were once part of the former Witchell's Dolphin Brewery, absorbed by Warn & Son's around 1905. The Warn & Witchell families inter married. Your flagon is a basic two tone Bristol Glaze example dating from the mid 1880's period, before the Son's became partners in the company. The number "B.1751" was a unique number issued to the flagon for brewery deposit purposes, so is unique in that fact.
