Calling all Tetburids, Teburians and those of you who are new to the town.
The First Tetbury Fiesta will be taking place on Sunday 13th July 2008. The event is aiming to bring the community in Tetbury together - all age groups, all interests with sporting, music and art events taking place throughout the day. We're trying to get as many people, clubs, organisations, societies as possible to take part, but we also need people to help out on the day.
This started as one man's insane mission to bring everyone in Tetbury together and it's now coming to fruition, so if there's anyone out there who wants to get involved in any way, shape or form (Legal and Health & Safety restrictiona notwithstanding!), please get in touch with the organiser - alibaxter@aol.com
Hope to see you all there And we could really do with a contact/help towards/suggestions for/alternatives to a Marquee for the beer tent/fashion show - any ideas?!
Much love Mrs Epsilon

What a loud (and rather common) event. Noisy and naff. Clearly the type of person to go to this was the type who enjoyed destroying the flowers in the town centre after the 'event' and leaving their vomit on the pavements - as I noticed this morning on my way to work. Why do we keep trying to be 'inclusive' to these types of people?

How very sad. I guess you really can't please all of the people all of the time.
Tetbury is a town with a population of around 6,000. At least a thousand of these came to the Fiesta yesterday and every last one of them enjoyed themselves. All generations were represented, all classes of people and the universal view was that it was a good thing to bring everyone together, and we should do it again next year. There was absolutely no trouble and no obvious drunkeness.
Whilst some people may not have appreciated the style of music, Tetbury already has a classical music festival and there are plenty of other events in the region that cater for the more exclusive market. This event was for a wider audience and as such was a huge success.
I was concerned to hear that there had apparently been some damage to the glorious floral displays that Tetbury in Bloom work so hard on, so got in touch with them, only to be told that there was less demage after this weekend than on a normal night and they were not aware of anything being damaged last night.

In response to "local"
"loud", "common", "naff" - I think the WI would be very upset to be described as such. They had a lovely day raising money for charity. What were you doing?

I thought it was a great event. I have a few comments gathered from others but in general the day was a success and appealed to a wide range of age groups.
The few comments I have received (none negative) were that there should have been more bins around the place and nowhere seemed to be serving tea and coffee. Useful info for the future I think.
All in all I have heard only positive things from the few I have spoken to about it and had a very enjoyable day myself.
