Hi. I have just stumbled across this web site & have noticed a photo of a head stone with John Streets' name shown. This person was my G.G Grand father & I have him married to a Deborah Baglin. Does anyone know where Sarah Cave comes into the picture? Also, does anyone know any more information in regards to this John Street, i.e. ancestors/family etc?
Regards.
David Street (Australia).

Hi David I've looked through the site but can't find the photo you mention. John Street (1776-1850) was married to Sarah Cave in 1799. She died in 1808, and I assume John later married Deborah Baglin. Does the head stone mention Sarah? This would prove that my supposition of the two marriages is correct. I looked around the Parish Church yard many years ago, but could not find a memorial to John. Can you let me know where this photograph is? John was born in Lathingy in Wiltshire - I do have a little more on the family if your'e interested

Hi Steve. Thanks for your reply. The photo is shown in the genealogy section under "Cave Family - Long Newnton" together with other "Cave burial" photo's. If it is at all possible, could you please provide what details you have on John Street as I have come to a dead end at this point in my family tree. Thanks & regards. David Street.

Hi David I see the memorial you mean now. I was aware of "your" John Street, who married Deborah Baglin & died in 1850. I'm inclined to think he is the same individual who previously married Sarah Cave (7 May 1799 at Tetbury Parish Church) & had 7 children. Sarah died in 1808. I think I am descended from this marriage, but have been unable to prove it. They were both shoemakers and I see the John of the 1840 Census records he wasn't born in Gloucestershire - the earlier one was in fact born in Lathingy, Wiltshire (bap. 25 September 1776). He was the son of Thomas Street & Sarah Hawkes. I have a copy of the marriage licence for the Street/Cave marriage, and plenty of information on the Cave family but little else on the Streets - I havn't pursued the family further back for, as I said, I'm not absolutley sure that they are mine!

Hi Steve. Thanks for your reply. Glad you were able to find the memorial. The details you gave on John Street will help to fill one gap I have & hopefully will help in trying to find more ancestors of John Street. Best regards. David.
