Labour members of Gloucestershire County Council want to see small wind turbines installed on public buildings to help reduce carbon emissions in the County. That could mean small installations on schools, libraries or town halls.
Do you think Tetbury should have wind turbines powering its public buildings? At least half of the cost will come from central government, and there could be large efficiency savings.
If you like the idea, where do you think they'd be best placed? Or do you think they'd be a blot on the landscape?
Let us know your views.

Bring on the wind turbines, it is the way of the future. If located right (not like the pitiful one in Nympsfield) it will be an asset and put Tetbury on the map.

wind turbines are uneconomical, unsustainable, inefficient and a blot on the landscape. do not bother investing in something that will never pay for itself in either carbon neutralistion or energy production.

Interesting stuff Windy - where did you get that information from? It's especially fascinating to hear that wind turbines are unsustainable - I had no idea that we were going to run out of wind, but this is alarming, as I've just put my washing out on the line to dry.
The Greenpeace website says, "Wind power is the only clean energy source that can deliver large amounts of power right now. The UK is the windiest country in Europe. Offshore wind alone, could meet our electricity needs three times over. Wind power can now produce electricity at a cheaper price than nuclear power in the UK. What’s more, the UK government predicts that onshore wind will be the cheapest form of electricity generation by 2020."
I don't normally have an argument with anything that Greenpeace says, but if you know different Windy, and have the facts to support it, tell me now and I'll get straight on to the people who run this huge, widely-respected international environmentalist organisation and tell them they are talking rubbish.

Wind Turbines are beautiful to look at, are the future and we all should be supporting any way we can to reduce carbon production

i think its a great idea, especially if its located in the correct place, however i do think they could be decorated, maybe to match with its surroundings.
or maybe on with a spiral, ha ha ha.
but seriously, not alot of people have heard of tetbury, this could well and truly put it up there with the rest, and for a good reason
