As stated in other posts elsewhere this site was created by our son when he was a student at SWR many years ago! He maintained it for many years, including up to date news pages and events, even whilst away at university. The site was used extensively by locals, tourists as well as students at the school. However times move on and he is now settled elsewhere. As the site receives many hits it was decided to remove the pages that needed constant up-dating. As no other local sites seem to have a message board this was left on as a service. The site is privately owned and it is impossible for us to maintain the site as we would wish - maybe when we retire!

The webmaster set up this site some 10 years ago when he was a local student and was a very good source of both local information and history and was widely used by locals, visitors and ex residents. As time passes so people move on and he no longer lives locally. As several people still use the site we try to keep it up to date but only have time for minimal input.

BT are offering to upgrade local telephone exchanges to provide up to 40mbps broadband but enough people in Tetbury need to register a vote on the BT Race to Infinity website - www.racetoinfinity.bt.com/

Hello, there are no particular bottlenecks in Tetbury. Traffic flows fairly well at all times. Occasionally Long Street gets difficult if 2 lorries try to pass and inconsiderate people have parked where they shouldn't! Congestion really only happens when the Badminton Horse Trials are on as we are on the direct route. Even this is only for a short time. A couple of individual properties have flooded in Tetbury and the Ford becomes impassable. Other than that there are a few roads which become difficult - the road to Doughton being one. It only causes temporary problems and soon clears. Hope this helps = Tetbury is a very pleasant place to live!

For the first time I understand that the Chamber of Commerce was solely responsible for the Festive evening - hence the charges for local groups to have a fund raising table! Apparently they had to cover all charges incurred whereas in the past the event has been subsidised by the Town Council. I wonder why they didn't want to help this year. Maybe that is why there were commercial rides and stalls there. Luckily the singing and music by local schools was very good and helped with the atmosphere and Wallace and Gromit did a good job in attracting families to the event.

Tetbury is a friendly place to live. Local people organise many activities that benefit local causes - the Woolsack races held annually on Whit Monday raises lots of money which is given back to local groups. As already mentioned the local Advertiser magazine gives a good impression of what is available locally. Both schools in Tetbury are good, St Mary's Primary and Sir William Romney's comprehensive. SWR draws students from a wide catchment and has a good reputation for pastoral care. It's results are steadily improving and the awarding of Arts status has led to many new initiatives. An arts display space is currently under construction and should be open next term. As often happens only people that want to moan post comments on this site - the ones that are happy with things don't feel the need to say so! If you do move to this area you would be made to feel very welcome.
