A great new project is trying to map all of Britain's postboxes so you can easily find your nearest one. Tetbury's a bit patchy at the moment, so if you want to add your nearest one, just click here: www.dracos.co.uk/play/locating-postboxes/?pc1=GL8If Tetbury's map gets filled up, we'll probably link to the map from Tetbury Online.

Being a resident, I rarely have to use the public toilets next to the Chipping car park.
But yesterday I noticed they're really quite disgusting - not the best way to attract the coach-loads of visitors to the town. I'm told by a friend the ladies' are just as bad as the mens'.
Who is supposed to clean them, and how often?

The Texaco garage is now remarkably cheap - 113.9 for petrol is very good at the moment. Not sure if diesel compares so well, but it seems to be a big change from a few months ago.

Hi Merlin,
We get our events from the tourism office website - they seem to be having some problems with their RSS feed, which we've let them know about.

Glad it's fixed. Unfortunately I don't really understand how the forum works either - it's all ready-made.

Hello to any new people on the message board. A bit of publicity in the Tetbury Advertiser seems to have resulted in some new visitors, so welcome!
We're constantly making changes to the website, and updating it with new content. This week we've added some businesses to the directory, and photos contributed by Tetbury Online users to the 'History' page.
Events listings are back (hooray!) and there's some aesthetic changes to the front page of the site.
We hope you like them, and let us know if you have any suggestions for the site!

We've added another 55 photos to Tetbury Online today, including over 40 from Paul Best, one of the site's users. You'll find them under 'Photo Gallery'.
There's also a new Spring-themed desktop background for you to download. You'll find it in 'Downloads'.
Also, you might notice this message is under a new section of the board: 'Site Updates'. We're hoping to add lots more content to Tetbury Online over the summer, so it seemed sensible to move news of these updates away from the main board.

We've made some more updates to Tetbury Online today.
With the new high-resolution imagery of Tetbury on Google Earth, which appeared yesterday, some areas of this site now feature links directly into Google Earth itself.
So in the Local Attractions pages, clicking on the Google Earth icon will open the application at the relevant place on the map, if you have it installed on your computer. It's handy for finding places such as Preston Park or the Police Museum, which aren't usually listed on a map.
The difference in resolution is huge. Previously you had to be zoomed out a long way to get a good image, and couldn't pick out even the biggest buildings in the town, whereas now you can pick out individual cars, trees, and even people.
As such, it's become much more useful to Tetbury. If you select "Google Earth Community" in the program, a number of placemarks will appear with local landmarks explained. We're helping to add to these so that Google Earth is even better for visitors to the town.
We hope you find these geographical links useful - let us know in the comments.
Meanwhile, we added the Jobs section to the site a couple of weeks ago - if you have a vacancy you want to advertise, let us know through the form in the Jobs section.
Finally, March will be another record-breaking month on the site. We're getting an average of 250 users every day, which is about 50% more than before the site relaunched last August. Thanks for your support, and do bookmark the site.

- A handful of businesses added to the Directory
- And some new jobs to look at.

Yes, I think registering just to view it is a bit extreme! Hopefully a few days away will keep the spammers off.

We've added a new Jobs section to the site today - let us know what you think of it and do spread the word that it's available for businesses to use.

We've made a few tweaks to the website, so I thought I'd let you know what's new. - Brand new Local Attractions site - featuring links to other websites, maps, blogs and photos. Includes suggestions for days out and guides to annual events.
- A few small bug fixes and additions to the business directory.
- Some behind-the-scenes changes which should make the site easier to find in Google.
- We've also put a few more adverts on the website, but not anywhere particularly prominent. Sorry if they get in the way, but that's how we pay for the web hosting. We don't think you'll notice the new ones though.
February was another record month for Tetbury Online - beating the previous record of users set in January. Hopefully some of the changes to the site will make March another record-breaker. Let us know what you think of the new Local Attractions page - are there any events or places that we've missed out? And are there any features the site is lacking? Thanks for visiting!

Hi Norman,
1) I can't see anything in the forum settings that would let me put a 'Report Abuse' button on it.
2) I doubt the rule-breakers would take the time to read rules.
3) I think this would get rid of the many people who just browse the forum. I can ban IP address, so if you send me a Private Message through the forum, I can technically ban people if need be.
I also don't think things are as bad as you suggest. I've removed a few abusive posts, but many of the ones I think you refer to are just 'silly'. The best thing to do with a playground bully is just ignore them, so that would be my advice on the forum.

Here's an e-mail we received from one visitor to the Christmas Lights switch-on...
I am not sure which organisation is responsible for organising the events which are linked to the switching on of Tetbury's Christmas lights, but I believe that they are doing the town a grave disservice. Originally, this was a very pleasant occasion; it was an opportunity for the traders to stay open a little longer and to welcome regular customers as well as a few new ones. There was an offical opening, a school choir, and Santa Claus. Everything was in keeping with Tetbury's position as a rather special market town. This atmosphere has now been completely lost. We have a down-market fair; it is noisy, brash, uncultered and populated with large numbers of youths who have no intention of spending anything with the town's retailers. My guess is that if this kind of event is perservered with it will result in fewer and fewer traders participating and a growing boycott by Tetbury residents. May I suggest that whoever is responsible for this increasingly down-market occasion should think again.
